CAYLEE PATERNITY QUESTION RE-EMERGES

11 10 2008

Considering that the Anthony family has never given a consistent answer to the question of Caylee’s paternity, there is little wonder why some very disturbing theories have emerged about the topic.

In one of her early interviews with Orange County investigators, Casey’s mother Cindy Anthony said that a man named Eric Baker fathered Caylee, but that Baker eventually married another woman and started a family with his wife. He did not want his name on Caylee’s birth certificate. According to Cindy, Baker died sometime after Caylee was born, but his widow and Casey made contact on the internet and were quite friendly with each other.

Casey is said to have told friends that the father died in a car crash on the way to Caylee’s second birthday.

Another story was introduced to the media by Casey’s brother Lee Anthony, who stated that the biological father and his family did not even know that Caylee existed.

Members of the Anthony family, by not answering the question of paternity in any way that seems honest, and by presenting different versions of the paternity story, have opened themselves up to a lot of speculation. Could the father be California Marine “Hawkins”? Could it be Orlando’s Jesus Ortiz, the kid killed in a car wreck last year? Maybe someone named Brandon? Or Brad? These questions are posted across the blogosphere.

But today, new information emerged that Lee Anthony refused to voluntarily submit to a DNA test earlier this week. Only after investigators presented him a search warrant did he comply. Had this family been honest about paternity from the beginning, the public would not have been so preoccupied with getting to the bottom of Caylee’s paternity. But the family’s hemming and hawing only leaves people to ponder… what exactly are the Anthony’s trying to hide about Caylee’s biological father? And why?

WFTV REPORTS:  CASEY ANTHONY’S BROTHER REFUSES TO VOLUNTARILY PROVIDE DNA

George and Cindy Anthony voluntarily gave up DNA samples this week so investigators could scientifically exclude either of them as the source of the hair and stain in Casey’s trunk, but investigators had to get a search warrant to get Casey’s brother Lee to submit to a DNA test. He also has refused to take a lie detector test for the FBI. http://www.wftv.com/news/17680298/detail.html

Legal Victory For Casey Anthony’s Attorney With Several Motions Granted

11 10 2008

Casey Anthony had gotten permission to attend the hearing on 11 motions filed by her attorney . Bringing her to the courthouse, where people who’ve been convicted of crimes are milling around, might have weakened the argument that she needs to keep her schedule private because of concerns for her safety.

“We’re not here for a homicide case,” a prosecutor said during Friday’s hearing.”Sure you are. We have a shadow case that’s been going on for three months,” one of Casey’s attorneys replied.Prosecutors wanted to keep the evidence in Casey Anthony’s child neglect case separate from the DNA evidence from Caylee’s hair and the stain found in Casey’s trunk, which investigators say shows Caylee is dead and that her dead body was in the trunk. They want to keep the cases separate, so they’re not under the same speedy trial deadline in January to try her on any new more serious charges that could come from the grand jury next week.Casey’s charged with neglect for not reporting her daughter missing or searching for her, which prosecutors say has nothing to do with DNA.
