On “Today,” Casey Anthony’s former fiance tells her: “Tell the truth. This isn’t about you anymore”

5 10 2008

In a revealing interview with Matt Lauer on NBC’s “Today,” Casey Anthony’s former fiance begged her Thursday morning to reveal what she knows about missing daughter Caylee.

“Casey, tell the truth. This isn’t about you anymore,” Jesse Grund said. “This is about Caylee. Stop dragging people’s lives through this, stop destroying people’s lives and tell the truth. What happened to Caylee? Because we’re all done with it. We’re all done with having to listen to your lies and your stories that make no sense over and over and over again. So tell the truth about what happened.”

Grund summed up the frustrations so many people feel with Casey Anthony. Lauer conducted a good interview that provided several memorable moments in this perplexing, drawn-out story.

Perhaps Grund’s words are the ones that will make a difference.

Grund explained why he was attracted to Casey Anthony. He found her to be smart, sarcastic and fun to be around. But she started to lie toward the end of their relationship and stole $250 from him.

He described Casey as a devoted and doting mother to Caylee. But at end of their relationship, Grund said Casey pulled away, turned selfish, started partying and became closer to her mother, Cindy Anthony.

Lauer asked if Casey Anthony could have hurt her child.

“Who knows the real Casey?” Grund said. “I think only she does. I think her personality has been so changed and molded over the years, I don’t even know if she knows who she is.”

“Today” preceded the interview with a report by Kerry Sanders in Orlando. He noted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is now calling Casey Anthony a suspect in her daughter’s disappearance. Sanders said that change came in an interview with reporter Bob Kealing of WESH-Channel 2.

Jose Baez, Casey Anthony’s attorney, countered that there’s little difference between being called “person of interest” and “suspect.”

  • Caylee Anthony, 3, reported missing month after her June disappearance, police say
  • Police have said evidence suggests Florida toddler is dead

(CNN) — Investigators have named Casey Anthony a suspect in the mid-June disappearance of her toddler daughter, Caylee, Florida authorities said Wednesday. Casey Anthony had been called a “person of interest” in her daughter’s disappearance.

Police had previously labeled Anthony — who authorities said didn’t report the 3-year-old child’s disappearance until mid-July — a “person of interest” in the case.

“Casey is a suspect,” said Orange County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Angelo Nieves. “She has been uncooperative, leading investigators down the wrong path and lying to them. She has not provided any credible information about the last time she saw her or where she was left.”

Casey Anthony of Orlando, Florida, was arrested July 16 on suspicion of telling detectives lies about Caylee’s disappearance. She was released on bail after that arrest and subsequent arrests on unrelated theft charges.

Authorities said weeks ago that evidence suggests Caylee is dead. Investigators found evidence of human decomposition in the trunk of Anthony’s car, authorities have said.

Veteran Investigator: Casey Anthony ‘One Of Toughest He’s Ever Come In Contact With’ Sheriff: New Evidence Coming

5 10 2008

A veteran investigator in the case of missing Caylee Anthony describes the child’s mother as one of the toughest individuals he’s ever run into, according to Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary.

Anthony, who is the only person named as a suspect in her daughter’s disappearance, has provided what investigators have called “deceptive responses” in connection with the case.

In an exclusive interview with Local 6, Beary said lead detective Sgt. John Allen has described Casey Anthony’s attitude.”I’ve had some very experienced people working on this case and Sgt. John Allen is one of those,” Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said. “Sgt. Allen said that’s one of the toughest individuals he’s ever come in contact with when it comes to attitude and as you called the poker face.”"In your heart, do you believe (Caylee) is gone — she is dead?”

Local 6’s Mike Holfeld said.”Well, my dad-instinct says you never want to give up,” Beary said. “But the way the evidence is looking, that’s probably what’s going to be down the road.”"She’s gone?” Holfeld said.”She’s gone,” Beary said. “Every day that passes, everything in your gut instinct tells you we’re not going to find that child — at least not alive.

“Evidence from the trunk of Anthony’s 1998 Pontiac included traces of chloroform and DNA pointing to a body in the vehicle. Also, hair in the trunk was linked to the missing 3-year-old, Local 6 reported.”You know, we know that something’s wrong,” Beary said. “We know something happened and that’s why we are still building the evidential case for the future.”Bear said the evidence could play a criminal court showdown with Casey Anthony, Holfeld reported.”Well, Florida has laws on the books like that,” Beary said. “I think before anybody does anything, the state attorney, the sheriff’s office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI will make sure that if that is the scenario, we will have all our ducks in a row for a good solid case.

“Beary said that additional evidence is coming but he has asked investigators not to brief him until they are ready to release it.The sheriff also said that he is hopeful that the case will come to a close before he leaves office in less than three months.A national search continues for missing Caylee Anthony.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

Woman named Zenaida Gonzalez suing Casey Anthony
6:13 PM
A woman caught up in the case of missing 3-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony is suing the girl’s mother saying she was defamed, her lawyer confirmed this evening.

Zenaida Gonzalez, 37, of Kissimmee, was falsely named by Caylee’s mother as the missing girl’s babysitter, even though they’ve never met. Mother Casey Anthony said she last saw her daughter with a woman named Zenaida Gonzalez in mid-June. Caylee was reported missing in July.

Investigators think the Zenaida Gonzalez that Casey Anthony told them about does not exist.

John Morgan, a prominent personal-injury attorney, is representing Gonzalez.

“Zenaida Gonzalez did not ask for her name to be put into this mess, but Casey Anthony made the mistake of her life by making her [Gonzalez] the person she decided to pull out of a hat,” Morgan said.

Caylee Anthony A Victim of A Disturbing New Trend?

    5 10 2008

    Posted on October 5th, 2008

Caylee Anthony has been missing since mid June and now everyone except for the Anthony’s are saying the little girl is dead. Her mother, Casey Anthony has been named as a suspect now in Caylee’s disappearance. Casey refuses to talk to authorities and won’t tell anyone the truth about what happened to her daughter which is causing a public outcry from many angry citizens.

Equusearch will be returning to start their search once again. Deputy Director of Equusearch Mandy Albritton said, “This case has had such national exposure that I truly believe that if this baby was out there alive, someone would have seen her and brought her home by now. It’s been way too long for a little 3-year old to be missing.”

Another child that I reported about that was missing, five year old Giovanni Gonzalez, has been missing since August 15 when his mother dropped him off for a weekend visit with his father. At the end of the weekend when his mother, Daisy Colon went to pick up her son, she couldn’t get any answer at the door. When she finally contacted the police and they entered the apartment, the child’s father, Ernesto Gonzalez denied even having the child that weekend.

He was arrested and charged with child endangerment and was held on a $500,000 bail. His attorney, Lawrence McGuire, tried getting the bail lowered to $14,000 which is the amount Gonzalez has saved in the bank. The request was denied by Judge Howard Whitehead.

Now I hear this morning that yet another child has come up missing that suddenly disappeared out of the blue Thursday when her mother’s boyfriend took her with him and he stopped at a gas station in Detroit. Jamrul Hussain, told his girlfriend, Nilufa Begum that her two year old daughter, Tangena was in the car with him Thursday night when he stopped at the gas station for a pack of gum. He told the investigators that he left the little girl in the locked car but when he returned she was gone.

Hussain didn’t notify police right away though. He went and picked up Begun from work and told her what happened. Then they returned to the station to search for her but couldn’t find her. Then they called the police. Apparently the gas station does have a video of Hussain at the gas station but it doesn’t show his car there or the little girl.

Hussain was arrested for sexual assault against a minor in an apparent unrelated case. After seeing him on Fox 2 News the victim notified police. He is being interviewed by the police but it is not known if it is about the sexual assault case or about the missing two year old. He was held for 48 hours after Tangena disappeared while police tried to gather any clues they could about her disappearance.

I have a real problem with all these cases with the missing children. Who is protecting these little ones against the bad guys? When the guilty party is arrested and held, I see all the taxpayers money spent to give the arrested ones their “rights” but what about the rights of little Caylee, or Giovanni or Tangena. What about all the other children out there that are missing and never found that just disappear? I would love to name each and every one of them but there are too many so I chose these three. My heart and prayers do go out to each one of them though.

My question is how anyone can harm an innocent child. They can’t possibly defend themselves when attacked. They never asked to be brought into this world. They should not be made to suffer from the hands of some sicko that gets their thrills out of killing children.

To take the life of a child simply because the child was not fitting in with your lifestyle is no excuse. There are way too many childless families in the world today that would be more than happy to take an unwanted child in and raise them as their own and give them a good home. If only these sick people would realize that.

My final words here again are my prayers are with these children. May God Bless each and every one of them.

Police previously called Casey Anthony, 22, a “person of interest” in her daughter’s case.

Lt. Angelo Nieves of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in Florida said there was no new information that had led authorities to classify Anthony as a suspect and he would not say whether police were close to making an arrest.

“We still have a little girl who is missing and we don’t have any credible information about where she is or where she was last seen,” he said. “To this date her mother fails to provide us with any information that would help find her child.”

Anthony has been charged with child neglect and making false statements, but has not been charged in her daughter’s disappearance. She faces several check fraud charges in unrelated cases.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty. Her lawyer was not immediately available for comment today.

Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing July 15, but her mother told police that she had not seen her daughter in 31 days. Anthony has given the police changing and inaccurate information about the case, according to investigators.

A law enforcement source has told ABC News that investigators found evidence of human decomposition in the trunk of Anthony’s car and the sheriff’s department has said it believes Caylee is probably dead.
